Weighing Truck

Numerous Government reports have been generated regarding the state of the roads in Pakistan and the conclusions were that over 90% of all vehicles carry more than the permitted 12 tonnes per axle.

Over 70% of all 2 axle trucks, which make up 60% of the Pakistan truck population are overloaded. Drivers make structural alterations to the trucks and even over inflate tyres to enable them to carry greater and greater loads. The result is extensive damage to the country’s road network and a high accident fatality rate.

One of the solutions being implemented by the National Roads Authority is the introduction of slow speed axle weighers to determine the actual size of the problem and to implement a stringent overload detection and prevention policy.

Central Weighing was chosen to manufacture and install many of these systems due to their vast experience in the region and their understanding of the climatic and structural demands on the products.

The initial results were alarming with over 67% of all vehicles weighed being overloaded. This confirmed the high levels of damage being done to the country’s roads running in to Pakistan Rupees PKR billions per year.

Vehicles with a road damage factor of 100 times that of a correctly loaded truck were found on a daily basis.

The National Roads Authority is investing heavily in advanced British technology to reduce this serious problem. Central Weighing together with distributors TolLink Pakistan are happy to be part of the solution.
